Our Mission

Changing lives starts with changing how hearing care is delivered.

Clarisound founder Kieran McCarry has spent more than three decades in hearing care. Through enormous changes in hearing technology, one belief has remained constant:

The purpose of hearing care isn’t simply to provide hearing aids. It is to help people hear better, so they can stay connected to the people and activities that matter to them.

That belief has shaped Clarisound’s approach to hearing rehabilitation since our beginnings in Malaysia in 2001.

It still shapes how we care for our customers today.

Founder Journey

An unusual route into hearing care

Kieran’s interest in sound began in an unusual place: aboard a nuclear-powered submarine with the British Royal Navy, where sound and acoustics are fundamental.

After leaving the Navy, he trained in hearing aid audiology and began his career in the UK. He later moved to Asia with Siemens, where his role focused on expanding access to hearing aids and developing hearing care across Asian markets. This included training hearing care professionals and helping to develop hearing-aid fitting practices across the region.

Kieran also contributed his experience to the World Health Organization, working on initiatives to improve access to hearing aids in developing countries..

Together, these experiences gave him an unusually broad perspective — from what hearing technology can do to the expertise required to use it well.

Technology can make an extraordinary difference. But only when it is part of good hearing care.

A woman holding a clipboard talks with an older couple sitting on a couch. The woman in the couple listens attentively while the man faces her, and all three appear engaged in conversation.

The outcome matters more than the transaction

As founder, Kieran shaped Clarisound around a belief that remains central to how we care for customers today: providing a hearing aid is not the same as successfully rehabilitating someone’s hearing.

The hearing difficulty needs to be properly understood. The technology needs to be appropriate for the individual. It needs to be fitted with expertise. And customers need ongoing guidance and adjustments as they adapt and as their hearing, circumstances or needs change.

For Kieran, the greatest satisfaction has always come from seeing what happens after the hearing aids leave the hearing care centre — when better hearing makes conversation easier, restores confidence or helps someone reconnect with the people and activities that matter to them.

The hearing aid is important. When better hearing results in better living is the reason for doing it.

That philosophy became fundamental to the way Clarisound developed.

Putting hearing care first

It influences not only how we fit hearing aids, but how we recommend them.

Our audiologists are non-sales-commissioned. They do not personally earn more because a customer chooses a more expensive hearing aid — or buys one at all.

This gives our audiologists the freedom to focus on what is appropriate for each customer.

Sometimes that means recommending more advanced hearing technology because its features will make a meaningful difference. Sometimes a simpler solution is enough. And sometimes, the right advice is that you don’t need hearing aids yet.

For us, good hearing care begins with understanding what the customer needs — not with what we can sell.

Expertise should never belong to just one person

Kieran’s more than three decades of experience has helped shape Clarisound. But its value extends beyond one person.

Today, Kieran continues to shape Clarisound’s vision, culture and approach to hearing care. His experience has helped define the principles behind how we work — from the importance we place on professional judgement and personalised care to our focus on hearing rehabilitation rather than simply hearing-aid sales.

That philosophy extends across the Clarisound team. Our audiologists bring their own professional qualifications and experience, supported by a culture of shared knowledge, discussion and a common commitment to helping customers achieve better hearing outcomes.

The aim is simple: when you come to Clarisound, you benefit from the collective knowledge and experience of the team around you.

Turning experience into a model of hearing care

Good hearing care requires a holistic approach, with each part of the rehabilitation process working together.

The hearing difficulty needs to be understood accurately. The hearing technology needs to be appropriate. Fitting requires expertise and objective verification. And customers need continuing support as they adapt and as their needs change.

Today, we bring these principles together in the Clarisound Four Pillars of Hearing Rehabilitation:

The Four Pillars reflect our belief that better hearing depends on the quality of the whole rehabilitation process, not simply the hearing aid. Explore the Clarisound Four Pillars of Hearing Rehabilitation

What does that philosophy look like for a customer?

Sometimes the clearest answer is simply time.

Yong Yee Ong first came to Clarisound when she was seven years old. Fourteen years later, she wrote about the care she continues to receive from Lee Moy:

“Ms. Lee Moy has always been very patient, helpful, and professional. She always provides great service and makes sure I get the hearing aids that suit me best. Whenever there’s an issue, she fixes it quickly and kindly.”

— Yong Yee Ong, Clarisound customer for 14 years

Her experience captures much of what we mean by hearing rehabilitation: professional expertise, an appropriate solution, personalised attention and someone who remains there when help is needed.

Good hearing care doesn’t end with the hearing aid. It is an ongoing rehabilitation process that supports better hearing over time.
Better hearing. Better living.

Hearing technology will keep changing. We welcome that — Kieran has spent much of his career working with precisely that innovation.

But after more than three decades in hearing care, one thing has become increasingly clear to him: technology alone does not deliver better hearing.

People need someone who takes the time to understand their hearing and what matters to them.

They need professional expertise to recommend and fit technology appropriately. They need advice they can trust. And they need ongoing care as their hearing, needs and circumstances change.

That was the thinking that shaped Clarisound. It still shapes us today.

Because the real value of hearing care isn’t measured by the hearing aid that leaves the hearing care centre.

It is measured by what better hearing makes possible afterwards.

Changing lives starts with changing how hearing care is delivered.
